What is AfterFixProject?
The AfterFixProject (hereafter AFP) is an update collection service for Windows and Office systems, which includes all officially released updates (non-security ones in addition to Windows Update) and installs all of the updates completely automatically, without user intervention, without connected to the Internet (offline Windows Update). AFP packages are updated every month with sync the Microsoft's Windows Update.

Why is it important to update Windows and Office?
Updating, update, up-to-date status…we can call it in any way, the essence of the matter is the same: we improve security and reliability of the system. It is difficult to create software (particularly when a system as complex as Windows) so that gaps do not come out later. These gaps mean security risks during Internet usage, that hackers exploit to obtain passwords, bank details etc. or they can install malicious software to our computer. We can ward off these dangers with the help of the updates of Windows and Office.

Why is AFP good?
We can bring our Windows and Office systems up-to-date fast and in the easiest way. For Windows XP can be 15 minutes.

Why faster than the traditional online update?
We can start the installation of downloaded updates, so we don’t have to wait for download one by one. On the other hand, Windows can download updates more slowly than a given bandwidth (in spite of high ones too) and if we haven’t got enough bandwidth, we can exempt our network from strain with AFP. Namely, the AFP is one and only file package which contains every necessary updates. This can save a lot of time, especially if we want to bring more computers up-to-date.

Why is it easier to update with AFP than online Windows update?
Besides download time we can save restart time too, because online Windows Update restart the computer after installation of each update. After that, it can find newer updates which are necessary because of previous ones. The AFP contains these updates too. If we start AFP, we will bring our system up-to-date, so we have to restart Windows only once.

What you may need AFP?
- If you need all the available updates, but you don’t have time, temper, patience to collect, synchronize and/or install updates from the Microsoft Download Center
- If you don’t want to wait for Windows Update download time
- If you want to integrate the updates to Windows or Office Installer
- If you install Windows and/or Office on a regular basis and complete work on installing updates, significantly speed up the work.

What kind of other components does AFP have?
Besides important security updates, AFP contains those which improve and support stability of the system, another tools and technologies (e.g: the latest Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player). In addition, it has got convenient, useful and frequently used components like Microsoft Live Messenger, Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft Security Essentials. Is AFP a Service Pack?
No, it isn’t. The Service Pack is a cumulative update (so it contains every previous service packs too), while AFP is the service pack of the latest service pack and only the latest one installed on it. For example, The AFPX is the service pack of Windows XP SP3, as if it would be a Windows XP SP4, although Microsoft don’t want to release Windows XP SP4. But Windows XP SP3 can be called „Update rollup” officially. For this reason, we have to install AFP for new-installed system.

How to prepare AFP?
Updates are from Microsoft Download Center to AFP unchanged where anyone can download at any time freely. AFP Installer installs in a row these updates automatically then restart the computer in the end (after PC speaker beeps indicating that complete). AFP packages are updated the second Tuesday of each month with sync the official Microsoft’s Windows Update 0-3 days late. At this time, the latest updates are got into AFP and old ones are come out of its. AFP doesn’t contain beta or under testing updates and components. Furthermore, it doesn’t include other (advertisement, sponsor) programs, it doesn’t modify the system any other form and set page in the browser etc.

What is AFP system requirements?
There is no other requirement, only the existence of the latest service pack installation.

Can AFP be integrated into Windows Installer?
Yes, but after unpacking the AFP package and only the hotfix (KB#.exe). On the other hand, the complete AFP installation package is Post-install form. See also AFP Installer

Can AFP be uninstalled?
Because AFP installs several updates and other components, the complete AFP can’t be removed only the individual ones separately.

Can be replaced the service of Windows Automatic Updates with AFP?
No. After installation of AFP strongly encouraged to use the automatic updates system of Windows for get further updates later.

Who prepares AFP?
The Afterfix.net (me) previously was only a hobby. In June 2005, made the first pack even for Windows XP SP2 HUN system and the project has been continually improved and expanded. The Afterfix.net no relationship with Microsoft! So Microsoft don’t give technical support to this, only the Afterfix.net!

Why do you need to donate the AFP financially?
The production and distribution of AFP are very time consuming, it requires many resources storage space and these costs must be covered. AFP is a private project. More about donation.

Can AFP ask for individual composition?
Yes, of course. Anyone can request its own discretion compiled AFP in the case of either version (Server too). Furthermore, also available custom install disk integration of updates, drivers etc. Email reconciliation is possible.
