AfterFixProject, AFP Installer - installation guide (See also: Pictures, videos about installation)
Installation of AfterFixProject
Content: 1. Default installation 2. Silent installation 3. Forced installation
Basically there are three ways to install AFP: default, silent or forced installation.
1. Default installation AFP wrapped packages can be downloaded from the Afterfix.net server, with a self-extracting exe, so the installation of the AFP can be run immediately after download. Following the self-packaging starts AFP Installer (install.exe). The AFP is unpacked into %temp% folder, which is removed from %temp% setting after the run.
Window frames of AFP Installer: The first window appears when you start the install.exe, it contains license terms and general information about the package. You must read and accept it, then you can continue the installation. Meanwhile, listed files and crcs of the AFP package are checked by AFP Installer in the background. If an error occurs at this time (bad file or missing file) the Installer will stop. The second window includes more information about installation. The third window: You can select the components to install. There are not all files of AFP only the less necessary (e.g. Messenger). By default, all installed are selected. The fourth window: You can select what the AFP Installer should do in the end of the last update. By default, the computer restarts automatically in the case of AFPX and AFP7 Installer (just quit the Installer in the case of AFPO3 and AFPO1), but it is possible to turn the computer off. The automated procedures may be turned off. In addition, the speaker will beep and play notification sound (if the driver of sound card is installed and the speakers are operating properly) indicating the installation is completed. The fifth window: process of installation. You can leave AFP Installer alone while installing the updates, no user interaction is required. The sixth window: notification about installation, ready for the restart, then play the audio and/or beep the speaker, after that quit the AFP Installer. The restart procedure is started. The AFP Installer restarts the system with the help of the built-in „shutdown.exe” of Windows and gives you 20 seconds. The restart process can be interrupted if you give "shutdown-a" command, but this is not recommended. If you restart the computer, the installation will be complete. If you want to verify the version of AFP, please type the following into Run command: afpver (in the case of AFPX or AFP7), afpover (in the case of AFPO3 or AFPO1).
2. Silent installation It is not exempt you from the acceptance of AFP licensing agreement. This procedure is recommended, when you want to integrate a given version of AFP into Windows or Office Installer. You have to unpack AFP package (with most of the unpacking program) and start install.exe with quiet option. „install.exe -quiet” AFP Installer will immediately begin installing the updates with default settings. In the case of AFPX and AFP7 with all components, the speaker will beep, play a sound and restart the computer. Automatic restart of the computer can be prevented if you start the Installer with a batch file, which contains the following:
install.exe -quiet shutdown –a
At the end of the installation will start the 20 second countdown, but it is immediately interrupted. The Afterfix.net suggests to restart your computer.
3. Forced installation If AFP Installer detect version incompatibility for some reason or if you want to run the installation, you can do this in the following way: install.exe –skiposcheck (It does not care about version of the operating system)
