There are officially 2 ways to download MSN Messenger 2009. You can get it with web installer or offline installer. Web installer is a small program (1MB) and this program downloads the selected components to install, so you will need Internet connection to use it. Offline installer is a big program (130MB) and it includes all Live components. Anyway you will get some unwanted components after installing Messenger 2009, like sign-in assist or sync. Afterfix.net made an 28MB installer package that includes only the Messenger 2009 without any unwanted components.
